Use NoMachine for remote access to computers on the local network
- Install NoMachine on the first computer
- Download the NoMachine package for your operating system to the computer you want to control remotely.
- After completing the download, start the installer.
- Accept the license agreement and click Next and wait while Setup completes the setup.
- You need to know the IP address to connect to this computer. There are two ways to check. (i) Open NoMachine from the program or application menu. The Welcome panel publishes the local IP address of the computer where you installed the software (Figure 1). Or (ii) click on the icon! M (Monitor NoMachine) that appears in the system tray of the computer. Click 'Show service status' (Fig. 2).
- This IP address will be detected at a later stage when you connect to a computer from another device (NoMachine can detect all computers that support NoMachine on the same network for access). Conversely, if you want to configure your connection manually, make a note of this IP address.
Most Linux thinks when talking about NoMachine. The reason for this is that NoMachine's first product revolutionized the Linux and X-Windows system in 2003, the Unix world-class remote computer system. Since then NoMachine has developed its technology to include all of the leading servers, desktops and cellular operating systems.
